Big Brothers Big Sisters of L & G
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Leeds & Grenville (L & G) is a local chapter of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada, a national federation consisting of 108 member agencies. The organization is dedicated to supporting children and youth facing various challenges and barriers in their lives. Through mentorship programs, Big Brothers Big Sisters aims to empower young individuals, reduce risks, and help them realize their full potential. By matching caring volunteers with children and youth, they create lasting relationships that positively impact the lives of both mentors and mentees.
• Mentorship Programs: Big Brothers Big Sisters of L & G offers mentorship programs designed to provide guidance and support to children and youth facing adversities. Through one-on-one relationships with caring volunteers, young individuals are given the opportunity to develop positive life skills, build self-confidence, and achieve personal growth.
• Community Mobilization: The organization mobilizes a network of over 21,300 volunteers across more than 1,100 communities in Canada. These dedicated individuals contribute their time and energy to become mentors, providing valuable support and guidance to children and young people in need.
• Positive Impact: By fostering positive relationships between mentors and mentees, Big Brothers Big Sisters of L & G helps reduce risks associated with detrimental living conditions, family violence, mental health issues, school challenges, and identity struggles. Through these interventions, young individuals are inspired to pursue their dreams and realize their potential.
• National Federation: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada operates as a federation, consisting of 108 member agencies across the country. This collective effort allows for the expansion of mentorship programs and the provision of support to communities nationwide.
